News & Announcements
Dear RBCA members and friends:
The killing of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor; the recent incidents and history of police violence, and the chronic targeting of black individuals and communities through systemic racism have brought grief and anger nationwide. Rockaway Beach Civic Association denounces racism and oppression in all forms. We understand acutely that these forces impact the lives and safety of our neighbors of color here on the Rockaway Peninsula, throughout New York City, and in cities and towns around the country. To individuals and communities who unjustly experience the transgressions of racism and bias in your daily lives – with open eyes and ears, we see you and we are listening. And with open hearts and minds we challenge ourselves, individually and collectively, to continue our own work and growth, seeking a just and equitable path ahead – and to participate in bringing change that is long overdue.
We stand with everyone fighting for and demanding justice.
We look forward to continuing this conversation with our RBCA family, our neighbors in the Rockaway community, and our broadening community beyond.
